A Unique, Natural, Environmentally Friendly Accent Table

Finally, my office is now complete. I've been cleaning, arranging, and getting everything the way it should be so I can start conducting business. I've basically posted this blog to brag about my artistic talent. I needed a small table to accent a bright red char in the small lobby of my office. I had a hard time finding a table in the size I needed. I needed to conserve space. After all, the lobby is small, and an ATM is going to be installed soon. I found one table that maybe would have worked, yet it still was a little too big. it was also $58. Luckily, I was able to think of creating my own table that only cost $1. I used an old log, in the size I needed, and lightly coated it with a $1 bottle of spray paint. Not only is the log table unique, bit it's also environmentally friendly being I recycled discarded wood. I encourage you too to get creative and environmentally friendly.

To me, electronics are altogether fascinating; therefore, it's not surprising that I'm also thrilled with security. My fascination for security cameras began at an early age when I was originally robbed by a relative. Throughout the years, I've added many new gadgets to my collection of security devices. That's why my office is over the top with security. My office is enabled with RFID readers, video door cameras, surveillance cameras, and more. Today, I decided to up the security by installing a new security alarm. For my new security alarm, I chose ADT. Several factors persuaded me to use ADT with my new security alarm.

One, ADT offers a free security system valued at $850. The security system is basic, but beings I had lots of things already installed, I didn't have to pay for anything extra. The system is so cool. It has a 200 word vocabulary, so it speaks to the user. Also, during an intrusion, ADT can listen right in, so if they hear an altercation or glass breaking, they'll notify the authorities right away.

Let's Go Political: Herman Cain: Sexual Accusations

Politics can definitely be nasty! This morning as I watched the news, I saw a woman by the name of Ginger White on air testifying to a 13 year affair she experienced with Republican Herman Cain. Believe me when I say I questioned it because it was an awkward interview and not just beings because I'm personally a Republican voter.

I can't seem to unbelievable that someone, man or woman, would come out after 13 years, coincidently during their partner's presidential campaign, and admit to an affair with that person. First, when someone has an affair with someone, especially an affair that's 13 years old, the person likely find love and feelings with this person, unless they're a prostitute, which Ginger White admitted she was not. If someone has feelings for someone for 13 years, there not going to try and hurt them after. I personally know many individuals who experience painful divorces, yet still correspond with their ex-spouse.

Secondly, what all of a sudden hit this woman, Ginger White, to make her feel she needs to be honest. She knew she would be humiliated, so why would anyone ever put themselves in a position facing public humiliation? Why didn't she just go and face Herman Cain's wife privately to aid her conscience? Perhaps she felt media attention would provide her with opportunities.

Then, as I said before, if anyone loves and has sex with someone for 13 years, it seems like they would want to support their partner's presidential campaign. Having an affair for 13 years is almost like being married, or it might even be better sometimes, as we have seem with Kim Kardashian's 72 day marriage, than being married. I just don't personally believe this Ginger White.

Lastly, to the claimants of the sexual harassment claims, why wait so long to come out to the media? I have no compassion for individuals who violate other's sexuality, but for me, if someone would have sexually harassed me, the minute I would see them on television announcing their presidential nomination, I would get pissed off and want to ruin them right there. Then, again, these women might just be as some like to say cold hearted. They could have just let him get his 15 minutes of fame, bask in the glory, then destroy him, which is much more painful on his part. If he is guilty, well then he might just deserve the extensive pain, especially after he denied the sexual harassment. I also believe, if he's guilty, he's not very brilliant in thinking of the dirt that his opponents would try to find; however, if he's telling the truth, I think his political opponent(s) endorsing these accusations is/are low, has/have little confidence in their own campaign, and he was wrongfully cheated out of a great presidential race.

Perhaps, we'll never know the truth to any of these accusations though. In reality, unless there's some miracle, Herman Cain will not defeat any GOP Republican with all these accusations, and especially not Barack Obama, despite currently having a low 51 percent approval rating. There is after all talk of him possibly dropping out of the race altogether.

Black Friday...MADNESS

I'm not really sure why I risk my security and go check out Black Friday sales each year, but I guess it's because I enjoy seeing people going crazy and fighting. This year was absolute madness at Walmart. I went, and probably because of the return of layaway, it entirely too congested. For instance, in the picture to the left, this individual decided to either steal or fight. He was at the same Walmart that I was at, I'm not exactly sure what he did, but it's evident thought that he did do something wrong. Walmart could make a ton of money by publishing all the surveillance videos on YouTube of the countless fights that erupted.

I, or course, bought things I didn't and probably never will really need, but I had to buy something. After all, there were several good deals; however, there still was no sense with people waiting hours in line for bed sheets. Really, are those sheets even that comfortable? People were acting like Walmart was giving away cases of money.
Anyways, I'll probably be writing next year at this time about the same thing because I know I won't be able to resist the drama of Black Friday.

Homecoming Week: Rolled Trees

My neighbors were victimized with a toilet papered lawn.

It's homecoming week at my high school. My school has so many annual traditions whenever it comes to homecoming. Everyone dresses up all week as there is a different theme each day. The biggest tradition though has to be rolling the homes of classmates. By rolling, I mean decorating the yards with toilet paper. Fortunately, my yard has not been hit, yet. Last year, I had security spot lights installed in all the trees in the front of my house. This year I've been staying up guarding my lawn. Last night, about eight cards drove by my house trying to hit my lawn. I remained victorious though as no one was able to roll my lawn. I hope I remain victorious throughout the week.

The Loss of My Beloved Grandmother...

Recently, I experienced the tremendous loss of my beloved peternal grandmother. A year ago, my grandmother had a pacemaker installed. Since the pacemaker, her heart rhythm was never the same. She'd always tell me her heart was jumping. My grandmother was okay, except for the fact that her heart rhythm jumped. Then, a week ago, her doctors began administrating morphine and fentanyl to her. She wasn't in severe pain. Her legs only hurt. Hydrocodone—a much less potent drugs—was the medication she was accustomed to treating her leg pains with. Morphine and fentanyl are drugs administered to cancer patients in sever pain. My maternal grandfather was given morphine and fentanyl in his last days to treat his pain as he suffered with lung and Non-Hodgkin lymphoma cancer. With my grandmother's already weak heart, she didn't need morphine nor fentanyl. Her heart just gave out.

My grandmother and I were extremely close. My grandmother and I shared many nights staying up late talking about everything. She was the most supportive person I've ever known. Anyone of her children or grandchildren could have a problem, and she would always be there by their side supporting them. She was fun, outgoing, and her family's presence. She was an important mentor in my life. I received so many lessons in life from her. The weekend before she died I attended a football game and an after party celebration. I regret that I didn't go and visit her one last time over that weekend. I guess it's natural though to always regret something when a person dies.

No one can live forever. We'll all die one day, and we're offered eternity in paradise. The death of my grandmother only makes me want to strive to become a better person, so I will be allowed in the kingdom of Heaven to see her once again. My grandmother loved God and her church considerably.

During the funeral, for some reason, I really never felt extremely sad. Then, and now, I have a strong feeling of her presence with me wherever I go. It's as if she's giving me the strength to carry. Also, I know she's in a much better place. She told me she was finally ready whenever God would call her weeks ago. I know she missed her husband--my grandfather--who died five years ago. Before she passed away, she told me about the visions and dreams she had of him; therefore, I can only imagine that my grandfather was calling her to her new home.

Drugs or controlled substances, which the government prohibits from being obtainable or are obtained without consent, are considered illegal drugs. In 1545, the Spanish brought marijuana to the New World. The English introduced it in Jamestown, a settlement in the colony of Virginia, in 1611. George Washington, the first United States President, and Thomas Jefferson, the author of the Declaration of Independence, grew marijuana on their farms for industrial reasons. Tobacco was also grown alongside marijuana as they were both a valuable source of fiber. The Southern states replace hemp with marijuana in 1890 as the major cash crop. Marijuana was still used within patented medicines during the time, but opium and cocaine were much more common. Prohibition in the 1920s caused the use of marijuana as a recreational drug to propagate. The children of the post-war baby boom, called hippies, arose in the 1960s believing in love and peace. The subculture used marijuana as a symbol of rebellion. Restrictions against the drug gradually developed. Under the federal government, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration was created in 1973 to enforce drug laws. The Office of National Drug Control Policy estimates that Americans spend approximately $65 billion per year on illegal drugs (Justice.gov). Today, organized crime is the biggest challenge faced by the Drug Enforcement Administration. Drug lords and cartel families now sophisticatedly smuggle billions of dollars in drugs across the border from Mexico each year. Due to the benefits, the United States of America should legalize marijuana for recreation and medicinal reasons.

First, the current efforts to prohibit the distribution and sales of marijuana aren't working. The current drug laws are based on drug laws from decades ago. Six thousand people per day try marijuana for the first time. Fifteen million people in the United States use marijuana at least once a month. Marijuana is the most widely used illegal drug in the United States of America. The government spends billions each year just to prosecute someone caught with a small amount of drugs that hasn’t harmed anyone. Forty percent of arrests are made today because of marijuana. The United State of America is based on the principle of freedom. Americans should be free to choose if they want to or don’t want to consume marijuana. Individuals should not be criminalized for their personal choice to use marijuana. Currently, Americans are free to smoke tobacco and drink alcohol after approaching the legal age; therefore, marijuana should be no different.

Secondly, legalizing marijuana would allow the United States government to potentially benefit. The United States would benefit from the trade of marijuana through taxes and regulations. Thousands of jobs could be created in the marijuana industry through the legalization of the drug. The drug cartels and gangs would be losing significant influence over the trade of marijuana and the government would gain more control. Consequently, less violence would arise from cartels and gangs trying to smuggle, protect, or distribute marijuana. Organized crime in the 1920s decreased as prohibition was eradicated. Also, monitoring the quality and standards of the marijuana sold would safeguard the public’s health. Today, distributors are applying foreign objects, like metals, into their marijuana supplies to increase the weight to increase the price of their marijuana sold, which are dangerous to the marijuana users.

Third, marijuana is safe. Like most Americans, people who smoke marijuana also pay taxes, love and support their families, and work hard to make a better life for their children (legalizationofmarijuana.com). Marijuana is much less harmful than tobacco and alcohol, drugs that are legal today, which kill a combined five hundred thousand people per year. It is actually impossible to overdose from using marijuana. Long-term impairment to memory isn't associated with the use or overdose of marijuana because marijuana does not kill brain cells like tobacco and alcohol. Users under the influence of marijuana will only experience frozen brain cells. Once the marijuana high is dissolved, the cells will return to their one hundred percent normal capacities. Neither genes nor the immune system is damaged by marijuana. Marijuana also doesn't induce violent behavior. Consuming marijuana orally through foods, like marijuana popcorn, marijuana candy bars, and marijuana pizza, eliminating any respiratory health hazards, can also produce the same affects as smoking marijuana. Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States of America, said, "When I was a kid, I inhaled.”

Fourth, marijuana can also be used as medicine. The use of marijuana as medicine first appeared in a Chinese medical compendium traditionally dating from 2737 B.C. Country singer, Melissa Etheridge, suffered from breast cancer. Instead of using medicine that would have caused huge side effects, she used medical marijuana. The marijuana helped ease the pain and loss of appetite associated with chemotherapy—the treatment prescribed by Melissa’s oncologist. Melissa credits marijuana for providing her with the strength to continue. Montel Williams, an American television personality, radio talk show host, and actor, deals with his Multiple Sclerosis—a disease of the autoimmune system that affects the central nervous system—by using medicinal marijuana. Marijuana was listed in the United States Pharmacopeia from 1850 until 1942 and was prescribed for various conditions including labor pains, nausea, and rheumatism (narconon.org).

Marijuana is safe and beneficial; therefore, the government should legalize the use of marijuana for recreational and medical purposes. Legalizing marijuana would allow the government and society of the United States of America to benefit in so many ways. Influential people in today’s society, including the President of the United States of America, use or have used marijuana recreationally or medicinally and find great benefits by consuming it. People should not be prosecuted for their own choice to use marijuana. Marijuana is definitely less harmful than alcohol or tobacco, which are legal today, so marijuana should also be legal.

I'm Angry! I Feel Violated! I've Been Handcuffed!

I've been wanting to post something about this for so long, but I didn't want people to think of me differently or something. Now I'm posting something because I feel alone. I'm not alone, but I don't think anyone else can feel the way I do unless they experience what I've experienced.

First of all, the company I work for recently acquired a fitness website called BestFitnessToday; therefore, I've been performing an extensive workout routine. I like to run races. I need to get better at running because if I can win more races, it means more publicity for BestFitnessToday. I'm also good at running because with music jamming in my ears and my legs non-stop moving I just feel free; however, tonight, it wasn't the case as I was detained by police. Yes, I was detained by police.

You see, last week, my friend, Michael, who suffers from brain damage after falling on cement pavement as a child, was detained just like me. The police lured him into the police station for questioning because he witnessed someone breaking into a home. Then, they frisked him, searched his bags, and tried to accuse him of being a drug dealer. Obviously, there were no drugs found on Michael. Lastly, out of pure cruelty, they cut all the lights off his bike because they appeared to be police lights. In Louisiana, it's required to have a headlight and back reflector or light on your bicycle. At almost every store, bicycle lights are red and flash; therefore, it doesn't mean you're trying to personate a police officer.

In my situation, I was walking around town at about 1:30 A.M. I like to exercise early in the morning because it's cool, and in my opinion, safer because there is less traffic. As I was half way through my 10 kilometer walk, I saw blue lights behind me. Before I could remove my iPhone out of my pocket to turn off my motivational music, I was thrown onto a police car. I was frisked. My arms were stretched out so far by the police. I was carrying a Nike bag on my back because it's difficult to run with an iPhone, bottle of water, identification, cash, and other small things all in your hand. Beings my identification was within my bag, which was in the possession of the police officer, I was not allowed to identify myself properly. I was handcuffed, thrown in the police car, and brought to the police station. I wasn't technically arrested. I was only detained with handcuffs according to the officer. The officer escorted me into the station gripping my arms so tight I now have bruises on them. I'm not even the type of person who bruises easily. In the station, they identified me. They were rude to me. My possessions were thrown at me. I was kicked out of the station which I didn't want to be anyway. It was a horrible experience.

I'm a USA citizen. I'm 18 years old; therefore, I have no curfew. I'm eligible to use the sidewalk to run, walk, jog, or crawl just like anyone else. I shouldn't have been thrown against a police car and frisked in the first place because I was able to identify myself. I just want to cry out of severe madness. No one has the right to abuse someone else. I hate the town I live in because of the police officers. They're so stupid. They've always have harassed innocent people. They can't find anything else to do. There are drug dealers and murderers loose in the town, yet they only want to harass the innocent, tax paying citizens because they're too scared of the violent citizens. I'm not putting this to sleep. I have to go to a city council meeting, meet with the mayor, or find me a good lawyer. I'm an innocent person exercising. I have rights. No one, even the people wearing badges, have the rights to take that away from me. I respect police officers. My two uncles worked in law enforcement, but some cops take the rights entitled by their badge to the wrong level.

September 11, 2001—Reflecting Absence

Every year, I like to write something on my blog to pay respect to those who lost their lives 10 years ago on September 11, 2001. I am thrilled that this year on the 10^th anniversary "Reflecting Absence"—the National September 11 Memorial & Museum—will open. Maybe next year I'll be able to make it to New York to see the opening of the 9/11 Memorial Museum. Prior to writing this article, I scrolled through photos of the 2819 people who died on September 11, 2001. I stared at each picture thinking about the children, mothers and fathers, wife and husbands, and friends they left behind. I couldn't imagine the overwhelming feeling to be trapped, scared, and hopeless towering high in the sky. Today is my grandmother's birthday. Her birthday is on one of the most tragic days in American history. I remember September 11, 2001 so vivid. There's just really few words to justify the impact of September 11, 2001 on myself and the world. I've watched many video of the attacks. I'm absorbed by every story I read or video I watch. The video below is one of the latest videos that I've found. In my opinion, it really portrays New York City on September 11, 2001. It's extremely hard to believe that the history of the world can change in just 30 minutes.

Become A Volunteer For My Charity Water Campaign

I just launched another charity: water campaign. This time, I am using different strategies to eventually end up with a successful campaign. I need as much help from everyone as possible. My latest campaign also coincides with a school project. Everyone in my class has been assigned this project; however, it's completely everyone's own choice as to what they research. Obviously, I'm completing a service project, but other topics my classmates are working on include research on controversial issues, career-based projects, or hobbies. Then, we must produce a product that relates to our research. My product will be the monetary contributions I raised to aid charity: water.

During this rough economic time, it may be hard or impossible for you to contribute money directly to organizations like charity: water. That's why I've created a new concept for those who'd like to donate to my campaign, but can't because of the economic situation. I've purchased a bulk supplies of charity collection jars. I am willing to mail a charity collection jar to anyone who'd like to support my campaign. All you have to do is place the jar at your workplace and wait until it fills up. This is only for people who are serious about donating a little time. Each jar cost $2.50. I had to buy a bulk supplies of the jars, so now my campaign advertising budget is in the negative. Then, I'll have to pay to ship the jars to you. I'm hoping that these jars bring in a lot of generous donating, so that's why I've invested my own money in purchasing them and shipping.

It's Raining! It's Pouring! Tropical Storm Lee is Here!!

Over the last few days, here in Louisiana, we've been impacted by Tropical Storm Lee. Fortunately, Tropical Storm Lee didn't develop into a hurricane, so we only received lots of rain and wind. The rain was much needed. Our vegetation was suffering from severe heat and drought. Now since Lee has provided valuable rainwater, all the vegetation is now hydrated and lush. The wind didn't get too bad, but the palm trees in my back yard took a beating, so there now are palm limbs spread throughout my backyard. The heavy rain caused the roadways to be a little dangerous, but I didn't experience any problems while driving, and I'm very happy the electricity remained on at my home all throughout the storm.

Losing Joy...

Losing a pet is heartbreaking. Losing fourteen of your beloved animals is sheer overwhelming pain. Sunday, I lost all but one of my beautiful, beloved cockatiels and all of my three quail. Many of the birds I watched hatch from tiny eggs and develop into magnificent flying creatures. My only cockatiel now remained because of a damaged wing. Somehow the door to my aviary opened and released all of my birds. The pain I experienced yesterday was titanic. I couldn't cry. My stomach just ached with grief. It was only magnified as I gazed in the trees and heard them in the distance knowing I could do nothing. Their joy of being free in the open world will soon expire as they will all perish due to the fact that they're all in wild territory without a food source.

Initially after the disaster, I felt anger, sadness, and betrayal. I felt angry at myself for some odd reason. Ridiculously, I felt betrayed. The animals I had housed and faithfully nurtured left me. Then, I was sad to lose fourteen of my loving pets that brought me so much joy.

Today, I am on the road to recovering. I purchased three more cockatiels to accommodate my only remaining cockatiel. Then, in the days to come, I'm going to purchase more bird to rebuild my flock. I will always have sadness in my heart for what happened, but I could have experience something even more heartbreaking. God would never put us through something that he knows we couldn't handle.

The Wedding Bells Have Rang...

Months ago, my family and I surprise my cousin in New Orleans hours after being engaged. (Click here to read about it) Tonight, August 27, 2011, the big wedding finally arrived.

It was the best wedding that I've ever attended. Everyone attending the wedding had hotel rooms reserved nearby, so we could all get ready. Upon arriving at the hotel, we were all greeted with gifts. Then, food was catered at the hotel. A limousine later escorted us to the church. The photographer snapped photographs for some time, and then it was green light for the ceremony to begin.

The cathedral was beautiful. The trumpets playing echoed as the bride entered. It was as if we were all attending Will and Kate's wedding spectacular. After the ceremony, we engaged in snapping more photographs with the photographer—customary procedure for any wedding. The limousine whisked us to the reception prior.

The reception was in an old, historic bank. The vault doors made an excellent backdrop for the towering wedding cake. The cake was five tiers. It was a beast. The details were unbelievable up close. I've attended many wedding before and have seen many wedding cakes, but this cake was the best out of them all. I was a little skeptic while eating the cake because it appeared to be wrapped in real lace. Perhaps the cake was magnificent because the cake decorators were prized contestants on Food Network Challenge. Eventually though, the humidity from the fillings inside the cake began to cause it to lean like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It had to be disassembled and slices into servings. The music and other food was also great. The fruit was uniquely carved to resemble a bride and groom.

The reception was the party central. Alcohol just kept flowing, people kept eating and drinking, and the dance floor was popping. Everything was great, and it was really a fun night. I'm pretty positive though that my cousin and her husband had a hard time waking up at 5 A.M. to take off to Cabo San Lucas for their honeymoon, yet at least they had something fun to look forward to.

Rehearsing for the Big Day...

Tonight, the big night before my cousin's big wedding, I joined everyone participating in the wedding at the rehearsal. The rehearsal was smooth, and the wedding chapel is gorgeous. After the rehearsal, dinner was served at a ritzy club. The atmosphere was pulchritudinous. After all, the club is located on the top floor of a towering skyscraper. The entrees served were savored by all the guest. I had the sea bass topped with lump crab meat and snow peas. It was interesting to observe the speeches presented by the mothers, fathers, and friends. The slideshow presentation was also great.

A Gift That'll Have A Meaningful Impact

I have friends and family that I care about sincerely, despite continuing to harm themselves considerably by smoking cigarettes. Cigarettes are catastrophically harmful to anyone's health and are terribly addicting. Still people, including my friends and family, engage in smoking. Today, people are starting to smoke younger and younger. I know firsthand the effects of cigarettes. My grandfather was a smoker in his earlier years. Smoking back then displayed strength and manhood. Unfortunately, after being free from cigarettes for years, my grandfather lost his life to a combination of cancers, including lung cancer.

Fortunately, I have found a really symbolic and inexpensive gadget to help my friends and family stop smoking. It's a lung-shaped ashtray. It becomes visually meaningful as the cigarette ashes fill the tray to represent the impact of smoking on the lungs. The ashtray also vocally represents the harm of cigarettes by coughing and screaming. The ashtray cost less than $10.

After purchasing the ashtrays and handing them out, so far it has helped one of my friends to stop smoking. It's great progress. If one ashtray can help one person, then these ashtrays are definitely effective. I recommend that you purchase an ashtray for someone you care about who suffers for the addiction of smoking.

Is the World Safe from Terrorist?

Ten years ago, I was sitting in my first grade classroom. I remember being overwhelmed with confusion. The teachers at my school were acting so strange. When I passed the teacher's lounge, I saw two huge towers, towers that I've never seen before, on television. The teachers didn't tell us anything though. When I arrived at home, it was then I was informed that the United States of America was under attack. Everyone was scared and questioning if there would be more attacks. I know I'll remember that day for the rest of my life.

Many people are fearful that there are more attacks to come, especially as the United States of America braces for the tenth anniversary of September 11, 2011. A few weeks ago, as I flew from Atlanta, Georgia to Houston, Texas, I was terrified onboard my flight. Racial profiling is very unfair, but I was terrified as an individual boarded my flight. It wasn't only his race that scared me, but he was wearing bizarre clothes. I couldn't help to stop thinking that he might be connected to Al-Qaeda. I had to do everything I could to remain on the plane. I would have indeed de-boarded if I hadn't been flying with friends and family members. I was extremely fearful. I had to resist not crying, but I assured myself that terminal security had performed their job properly. I thought about what I would do if he got up from his seat and threatened everyone onboard. Despite the fact that I believe it's your time to go when it's your time, I would never let someone take me down without defense.

Once we all arrived in Houston, Texas without incident, I felt bad for the foreign man with the angry, fearful look on his face that I judged to be a terrorist. I had panicked for nothing really. The man was hopefully just flying into the United States of America to experience the country.

Is America really safe though? I associate terrorism mostly with air travel because that's how our country was dramatically attacked previously, but there are countless opportunities and methods for our country to be harmed by terrorist. It's scary to think about it.

Prior to boarding that flight to Houston, Texas, I was on a previous flight from Cancun, Mexico to Atlanta, Georgia. One of my friends accidentally forgot two bottles of tequila—souvenirs—in her carry on luggage. Liquids over a certain amount are strictly prohibited after British agents took down 18 British Muslim that planned to kill thousands by bringing down seven transatlantic airliners in one go with liquid bombs. The Mexican terminal security officer immediately removed her bag from the conveyor belt and searched the inside. He only removed one bottle though. It was fortunate for us because the bottle he didn't see in the bag was personalized. That one slip-up could of been calamity. I, nor my friends or family members, are absolutely not terrorist, but say for instance it wasn't us that day, it was a terrorist.

It has always been scary to think about terrorist who think all day about killing innocent people. Eventually, air travel will be so strict, but it will almost be necessary. The full-body scanners that airport security uses is necessary, as so is every other procedure. I personally think that airport security will never be ready. They'll always have people thinking above them. I think the next attack, or attempt, that we experience will be from a lone wolf instead of Al-Quaeda or another terrorist organization.

Summer Vacation is Over!!

Summer vacation is officially over. Tomorrow I start school. Today, I'm actually prepared for my last year of high school. I love school. School gives me another since of achievement. I guess I'm also very excited because I have less classes to take my senior year, so I have to only go half a day. Half a day of school brings great jealousy to my brother who must complete school all day long. I'm ready to get school over with, take a vacation to explore the world, then start college, and enter the real world. With school, I'm also on a routine, so I go to bed and wake up at a certain time. I like a schedule. Wish me luck tomorrow!!

I will have memories from my trip to Mexico last week forever thanks to Sony. My

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX100V camera was the best. It captured the best, high-quality photos. With a 16 megapixel lens, the photographs came out super clear. Even while in very low lit locations, like a cenote, the photographs were brilliant. It was very easy to capture panorama views and 3D views. Not only is the DSC-HX100V from Sony a remarkable machine, but it's price tag is also great. The camera is only about $410. For a 16MP camera that has so many features, that's an amazingly inexpensive price. Cruises vs. All-Inclusive Resorts

Escaping the "real" world for a relaxing vacation is something you may plan on doing in the future. Over the pass week, I enjoyed an all-inclusive Caribbean vacation. It was my first all-inclusive vacation, but not my first time to Mexico. I have been to Mexico multiple times before on a cruise. The all-inclusive resort was very nice, but overall, I'd rather a cruise.

Number one, all week long while on a cruise, you're surrounded by the same people; therefore, you get to know them. At the all-inclusive resort I stayed at, people came and went. The entertainment on a cruise is much better than at an all-inclusive resort. Cruises offer Las Vegas style shows and so much more.

The benefits of an all-inclusive resort is that you actually get to experience a destination, in my case, Mexico. In Mexico, I saw Mayan temples, cenotes, the jungle, and so much more. On a cruise, your mostly at sea; however, you do get to spend a few hours in the port town. A cruise also gives you a schedule. You must be off the ship at a certain time and back on at another. This past week, there wasn't a schedule. Everyone just did what they wanted to do. At an all-inclusive resort, you don't have to carry money because almost everything is paid for. On a cruise, you don't have to carry money because the ship will give you a card, but you do have to pay for things like frozen beverages, soft drinks, alcohol, and a few other things. Lastly on a cruise, it's very hard leaving. As I said earlier, you connect with people better. The last night, when you know it's the last time you'll see the matradee, your waiter, and all the staff on board that you were pampered by, it's very hard to leave. I guess I also have a love for the sea. It's so nice to walk out on the upper deck at night and experience a breeze.

Day 5: Mexico

On day five, I enjoyed a relaxing day. I headed to the beautiful, nearby town of Playa del Carmen. There I explore Fifth Avenue—a street lined with shops. There again I scored some very nice deals on authentic Spanish art. Again some of the merchants are very pesky, but I'd just ignore them. Also, my new mask constructed of native stone looks fantastic at home. The heat was surreal. It was nice to cool down for lunch in an air-conditioned restaurant. After lunch, I continued to sightsee and rack up souvenirs. During my journey, I witnessed the most adorable marmoset monkeys and a baby tiger. Of course, you must pay to take a picture with them, but it's free to look.

Later, back at the resort, I relaxed on the beach, enjoyed a few drinks by the pool, and eventually ate dinner. Dinner was sushi and spring rolls. It was the best sushi I ever had. In fact, I dislike the sushi I've eaten in United States, but at the resort, the rolls were small, just how I like them. After dinner, I immediately fell asleep. It was a good thing beings I had to awake at 4:30 in the morning to catch my flight.

Leaving Mexico wasn't very difficult. When you have animals back at home, you miss them like they're your children. I was excited to know I'd see them and my home again. The plane ride returning me to the United States was much more comfortable than the one that brought me to Mexico. Of course, if something went wrong, I don't know because I was sleeping. Traveling destinations abroad is fantastic, but there's really no place like home.

Day 4: Mexico

Day four turned out to be an amazing experience. After enjoying breakfast, a luxurious tour bus picked my family and and I up. While on the three hour ride, we were served beverages and danish pasteries. Then, sleep mostly consumed the majority of the three hours. While on the tour bus, we also met some very nice and friendly people that sat by us on the bus from Kazakhstan that work for the embassy of Kazakhstan in New York.

Finally, we entered a colonial town, followed by arriving at the majestic city, Chichen Itza. There we learned about the magical, ancient Mayans and their legacy. The Mayans were the best astronomers of the ancient world. The pyramid Xichen was lined up perfectly that on March 21 and September 22 during the spring and fall equinox, the body of the snake, Kukulkán—the god that represented the Mayan people—shows up perfectly on the sides of the main corridor. Another interesting feature of Xichen is the acoustics. From 24 meters above, the leaders could communicate perfectly with people below. Also, while clapping in front of the stairs of Xichen, you can hear a perfect representation of the sound of the long-tailed quetzal bird. Mayans were truly geniuses. They showed their knowledge through architecture, rituals, and astronomy. Xichen is one of the seven wonders of the world. The pyramid dedicated to the Mayan gods is an important testimony of mathematical and astronomical precision. While viewing the temples, I couldn't help but to visualized the king at the top, Mayan people standing around the pyramid, and the Mayan civilization.

While in Chichen Itza touring the pyramid, we definitely were pestered by local merchants. You really can't blame them for being pests. Tourism is after all their main source of income. Some are bandits selling fake silver, but others are selling carvings of elaborate masks. If you like to shop, it's very easy to score a good deal on souvenirs. I know I saved at least 75% by shopping abroad instead of at my hotel's gift shop. Lastly, while in Chichen Itza, we dined at a hotel that served us a buffet that was very delicious.

The heat in Chichen Itza can be overwhelming for some people. Fortunately, coming from Louisiana, I'm use to heat and humidity, but it was very refreshing when we arrived at our second destination while on the tour, a cenote. As I entered the cenote, I felt magic. Local Mayans were performing on a peninsula within the cenote traditional Mayan music and dance that echoed throughout the cenote. The smoke and scent from the incense they were burning was truly enchanting. The cenote was much larger and open than the one from day three. The water wasn't as clear, but it was still cold. Swimming in the cenote was refreshing and the minerals within the water was beneficial for my skin.

Day four really gave me an insight into Mayan culture. The excursion wasn't as thrilling as the one from day three, but it was a wonderful experience. There are thousands of destinations worldwide that I'd love to visit; therefore, I may not see a Mayan temple for some time. Now whenever I look at a world history book and see the temples of Chichen Itza, I can say that I've stood within feet from one and walk where Mayan people once walked. Later that night on day four, I dined at a sushi and hibatchi restaurant. Then, I recollected in my room on how wonderful of a day I had.

Day 3: Mexico

Day three started off early—5:30 in the morning. After breakfast, I headed with a group of friends and family in a van. We picked up a few friendly people at neighboring resorts, but our group was relatively small—only 14 people. It's much nicer when the groups are small. Our first stop was a sea turtle refuge. We snorkeled for about a hour. The sea turtles were massive. They were beautiful creatures to observe from above. We didn't see much fish though. After we finished, I concluded that snorkeling trip from the previous day was much better; however, this time we were able to see sea turtles. The locals also have the same respect for the environment. You're recommended to wear biodegradable sunscreen, and it's prohibited to aim your flippers downward in fear that you will disturb or kill microorganisms and other food for marine life.

Secondly, my group then headed to the jungle. The jungle is wild. The jungle is contained by dangerous trees like the Chechen. Now the Chechen looks very similar to most trees. There's one difference. You don't want to learn again the Chechen for a siesta. The Chechen will provide you with a nasty, third degree burn. Fortunately, the Chechen and Chacah grow together because the Chacah can be used for medicine to treat burns by a Chechen. While in the jungle, we first visited a cenote. Cenotes in Mexico merge with the world's largest underwater river system in the world. The cenote was magical. Cenotes meant so much for the Mayan people. It was a place of shelter, cooling off, and rebirth by connecting with the gods. The only thing that wasn't very magical for us was the six foot long boa constrictor at the entrance. Our tour guide began by looking for tracks. Someone in the group asked him what kind of tracks he was looking for, yet he didn't say. It wasn't until we saw the boa coiled beneath a table that we realized he was looking for snake tracks. Fortunately, snakes don't like the freshwater within the cenotes. Crocodiles do, and there was a crocodile in a nearby cenote. The cenote we swam in was very much clear of crocodiles. It was magnificent. The water was definitely very cold at the beginning. After all, a cenote is located beneath the ground. Eventually, your body gains the ability to cope with the water's temperature. You just had to watch out for the stalagmites that were a little dangerous above the water, but they added beauty to the whole cenote experience. I was impressed by the time it takes to form a stalagmite or stalactite.

Our last activity was zip lining and rappelling. Both activities turned out to be really fun. First, zip-lining was a little scary. I'm not afraid of heights, but when you know you're about to be pushed off a seventy-five foot tower and have never been zip-lining, it's a little nerve-racking. However, once I was on the line, all the fear I had vanished. The line was sturdy, so while being on the line, it wasn't scary at all. The lines are safe. You're connected to two parallel cables. We ended up zip-lining 2,524 feet above the jungle. I was also scared when I began to rappel. I can remember that the instructor kept telling me to put my knees out straight, yet I kept having them bent due to fear. After all, I was leaning my back to the jungle seventy-five feet below. Once I began to rappel, the fear also vanished. I hurried and actually rappelled twice. Our tour guy was a daredevil. He rappelled upside down.

It was an amazing and very busy day. I dozed off in the van on the way home. I couldn't imagine a more adventurous day.

Day 2: Mexico

Day two started with breakfast at an awesome international buffet. Then, it was about settling in, booking excursions, and finishing final details at the concierge desk. Later, I, along with others, took a taxi to a nearby town—Puerto Morelos. Puerto Morelos was a very unique fishing village. The ocean view was gorgeous. Puerto Morelos gave me an insight as to what "real" Mexico is like, unlike the dream-like setting of the resort accommodating me. Locals brought their catch of the day in, while I observed them meticulously cleaning the fish. Then, I cooled off in the ocean during a snorkeling tour. It was private, unlike the snorkeling tours I've taken before in huge groups. It was something new to me. Locals really have a respect for the ocean. It's important that they protect it because it provides food for them and an economy based on tourism. Biodegradable sunscreen is preferred. It was the best snorkeling trip that I ever took. After all, I was swimming above the second largest barrier reef in the world—Belize Barrier Reef. Belize Barrier Reef extends 560 miles miles from Cancun to Honduras. It was literally like being inside another world. There were huge sea bass, thousands of fish, conch, eel, stingrays, and so much more. The experience was awesome. Puerto Morelos was also a great village for shopping. It was really easy to make a great deal at one of the shops that lined the nearby beach. I bought some beautiful, traditional Mayan jewelry and an art statue made of discarded fish bones. I also experienced waya for the first time. Waya is a native fruit. You peel it like an orange, but it's a little larger in size than a grape. The inside looks like a peeled grape with a large, hard seed. It was an experience, but despite being a fruit lover, I really didn't fall in love with waya. Later in the evening, I relaxed on the beach, built a sand castle, and eventually headed to dinner. I was so tired that during dinner I was struggling not to fall asleep, but I was quickly awaken when I was served delicious, traditional Mexican food.

Arriving in Mexico...

Thankfully I arrived in Cancun. I know earlier I said I could fly in a plane everyday, but today, I just had a little too much flying. After the plane had mechanical problems in Houston, upon arrival to Atlanta, Georgia, it was very close to hitting a cargo truck. It literally had to slam on the brakes. The entire plane rattled. Therefore, all that drama caused me to miss the original flight to Cancun. I actually arrived at the gate ten minutes earlier, but the attendant gave all the remaining seats to people in standby. Wow! That definitely was not fun. Then, the plane from Atlanta to Cancun also had mechanical problems. The hydraulic pump by the wings was damaged; therefore, a loud noise was produced. The flight attended warned us that at times it may sound like a "bomb". Yeah, that was very encouraging news for us all on the plane when we first ascended into the sky. She ended up being a little overdramatic because it was loud, but nothing like a bomb.

Once I arrived at the resort, I was greeted with a fresh, damp towel to cool off and refresh myself. It was nice, especially since I had been traveling since the early morning. The lobbies is all open. There isn't air conditioning. It's just natural. This place is blessed with beauty. It's so tropical. Then, I was taken to my room. The rooms are within buildings that are spread around water features that are surrounded by lush canopies of greenery, similar to a jungle. Native birds greet you. The walk back to the lobby is far, it could be considered an expedition. Getting lost on the many winding paths isn't uncommon. However, the rooms are exceptionally nice. They're large and clean with a beautiful view from the balcony, and there is lots to do here at the resort. I spent the afternoon at the beach. The white sand is so clean and beautiful that you just can't resist playing in it like a child would. The water is exceptionally clear. After I worked up and appetite at the beach, I headed to get some food. There are almost a dozen restaurants at the resort. The food is exceptional. For lunch, I ate at an awesome oceanside restaurants. Then, for dinner, I ate at a restaurant that serves original Mexican cuisine. I was exceptionally excited when I found out that the restaurants are vegetarian friendly with a separate vegetarian menu. Everything that I ordered was excellent and there is lots to choose from. I can't wait to explore Mexico even more.

Flying Like A Bird...

Right now, as I post this article, I'm 30,000 feet above the ground on a Delta flight in queue for Atlanta, Georgia. I'm eventually going to end up and vacation south of Cancun, Mexico. I could be sleeping right now, but I'd rather take advantage of the coupon code I found for free Wi-Fi. I have a passion for traveling. I wouldn't mind traveling in a plane everyday.

This morning, TSA at Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport was very nice. First of all, I wasn't informed that I had to remove my laptop from my carry on luggage; therefore, they had to check it twice. Then, my deodorant in the bag was 3.5 ounces. The limit is 3.4 ounces, but fortunately the TSA agent allowed me to pass through. I would have freaked out if they would have taken it from me. I can't imagine a week without deodorant. Also, for some reason, I didn't have to pass through the full body scanners. They let me pass on by; however, I wouldn't have mind. When the security of myself and fellow passengers onboard is at stake, I'd allow TSA to scan me multiple times. I know some people may visualize the full body scanners as being inappropriate and an evasion of privacy; although, it must be done. After all, TSA scans thousands of people everyday, so there's no way they scan you, see something interesting, and then remember a face later on.

For people who've never flown before, flying is a very comfortable experience. Sure you think about mechanical and security scares, especially beings this morning, right before we taxied for the runway, the cargo door latch on the plane failed to close properly. Fortunately, it was fixed by a mechanic in only a matter of a few minutes. I just hate how the cabin pressure causes my ears to pop while flying. On this trip though, my ears were much better than they were compared to a trip I took to Alaska. While flying to Alaska, it seemed like the plane for an hour was idled at an altitude that just tortured my ears. It could also have been because it was my first time ever flying. In general, once you get use to flying, it's really fun. Hopefully, there's Wi-Fi at the resort I'll be visiting in Mexico. Then, I can keep you posted.

My New Hobby—Beekeeping

I'm a hobbyist. I mean I have so many hobbies. Recently, I found a new hobby to enjoy—beekeeping. If you follow my blog, you know that I'm a sucker for the environment. I absolutely love the environment, and I try and do everything I can to protect it. Therefore, it's not surprising that I'd start beekeeping. Bees are awesome little insects. They're workaholics, but they do sleep at night.

I really started beekeeping because the bee population worldwide is declining. My home is also surrounded by many gardens, so the bees will love pollinating all my fruit trees, vegetables, and flowers while also helping them out. Despite the fact that it's so hot in the bee suit, observing the bees really relieves stress for me. I have about 30,000 bees right now, but I'm going to expand. Whenever you open the hive, all of their wings produce a sound that is so loud it sounds like a fan.

Boys and girls, men and women, listen closely. I have a little advice to share with you all. I have many friends these days that are becoming parents. For me it's the opportunity to learn a lesson. I know that there are many single parents out there raising their kids just fine. I respect different people's views and ideas; however, I feel that it's better to have kids after marriage. I just think that when you're married, there's an extra commitment towards the relationship.

I'm not writing this article to lecture about having kids after marriage. I'm writing this article because I see so many people having kids just to try and strengthen a relationship. Remember this, if the relationship isn't working out now, a kids isn't going to strengthen it. A child is only going to make it more complicated. I know so many people who get themselves into this situation. Love is a complicated thing, but don't just fall in love with the first person you see and have a kid for them. Know that you'll be connected to this person for the rest of your life by having a child. Wait to have kids whenever you can afford them, whenever you know your partner is the right one, and never to try and strengthen a relationship. For the majority, it just doesn't work.

I'm sure I'm not the only one out there; however, recently, I've been having the most intense dreams at night. My dreams are bizarre, sad, and happy. My dreams cause all sorts of emotions for me. Some of my dreams have really been affecting me. For instance, the other night I dreamt a friend of mine committed suicide. That's just really not cool. At other times, I'll dream about happy things, like winning money, or include someone I know having a baby. I'll think about it all day long the next day. Then, I'll have to continue to remind myself that they're only dreams, not reality. I have crazy dreams. They feel so real all the time. Do you sometimes have intense, crazy, and emotional dreams?

Getting Creative in Art Class...

Tonight, I sat down for a few hours and explored my creativity in art class. It was my fist time painting in art class. It was obviously fun because the time flew by so fast. The class lasted about four hours, but of course, we also ate dinner.

The funnest part was mixing all of the paints together. We must have created a hundred different tones. I can't imagine painting anything larger. You'd need to mix an endless number of paints together. Painting is definitely not as easy as it looks. I now have a lot respect for artists.

I would have liked to of paint something a little more modern and colorful, but the entire class paints the same thing, and the instructor picks out what we'll paint in advance. I'd say my painting came out okay. It's of a vase, gourd, and egg against a stucco wall. This probably will not be my first art class. Art class was really fun. I left the class feeling relaxed. Everyone has creativity. You just have to find out how to express it.

Today is my birthday! It's in fact my most special birthday of all. At 16, I was soaring the roads with my drivers license. At 17, I was flashing my license proving to police officers that I had no curfew. Now at 18, I'm truly free. As Chili Davis once said, growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional.

I have a couple of bank accounts, but now I can actually open a bank account on my own. Custodial accounts are out the door. I can also sign documents on my own. I can invest in the stock market. In fact, today, I invested in IZEA Holdings, Inc. I can apply for a credit card.

In today's economy, saving money is very important, especially with inflation. Americans spend an average of 15% of their income on groceries. That's why I comp my groceries to save lots of money. I've asked a lot of people if they comp. Many don't know what I'm talking about. Therefore, I've decided to write this article to explain abroad the concept of comping sale prices.

Comping is comparing sale prices. A family friend of mine first introduced me to comping. She owns a restaurant and catering business and to maximum her profits, she must purchase the items she needs to cook at the lowest prices.

If you stay updated with your weekly sale paper, comping will be easy and very effective. For instance, if "Store A" is having a sale on produce, like strawberries, yet you shop mostly at "Store B", well most likely "Store B" will acknowledge the sale price at "Store A". Major retail stores are very competitive these days. Therefore, major retailers like Walmart, Super Target, and Kroger will definitely allow comping. If you're not sure if your local grocery store allows comping, just ask a manager.

I found out that Kroger was having a sale on Vitamin Water. The Vitamin Water was listed on sale for $0.75. At Walmart, Vitamin Water was listed for $1.00. I went to Walmart, told the cashier as I was checking out, and they acknowledged Kroger's sale price and sold me the Vitamin Water for $0.75. I ended up saving $0.25. This worked out great for me because Walmart is closer to my home and I didn't have to drive all over to save money on groceries.

The doctor injects little amount of dull bacteria into the blood of person and our body treat it as foreign material. When this foreign material is detected in our body then antibodies are generated to destroy this foreign material. During the same time memory cells are also generated. These memory cells are for the detection of any second exposure and if the second foreign body is present then out immune system works more effectively and hastily. After being vaccinated against tetanus you may experience slight illness and some symptoms like muscle aching, headache, mild fever and it may last for few days. But you should not take any vaccine for these symptoms as they may destroy the affect of the tetanus shot.

When to get immediate Tetanus Shot?

Tetanus shots are necessary in every stage of life but for the following reasons you must take tetanus shots.

· If you have to go to a country having hot climate and the soil which is having organic contents in it.

· When you get any cut or injury on your body.

· If you are pregnant then you should get immediate tetanus shot. It will prevent you and your baby from being affected from tetanus.

· A person who has to work regularly in farms, manure or dirt must be properly vaccinated against tetanus otherwise the bacteria of tetanus will affect him.

LASER TAG!

Geared up for laser tag.

Tonight was my first night ever playing laser tag. It was a blast. It was a good thing too because the laser tag facility was extremely booked. We waited for an hour and a half before we could engage in a game. At the beginning of the game, I had very little knowledge of what to do, but finally, I was experienced and able to defeat the enemies. Our team—the red team—unfortunately overall lost against the green team. By the end of the night, I was drenched in sweat. Laser tag is an adrenaline run. No one wants to get shot. You really get into the battle mode. After all, the laser tag facility was on an old WWII battle ship. You're running through watertight doors, running down narrow stairways, through the engine room, and everything else on a ship. It's really is a battle. It was also dark, so it was very dangerous. I hurt my elbow and almost fell down the stair. Tonight, I experienced a very fun and challenging sport.

I seems like yesterday that I was blogging about Bird Manor becoming live via internet. Now today, I'm blogging about the new expansion to Bird Manor in less than a month. With all of the positive support, Bird Manor has almost grown three times as big as before. It was was a lot of hard work. Expanding Bird Manor required a lot of work. My body is now suffering from cuts, blisters, and soreness. The heat was excruciating while we worked. However, it was all for the birds. Now Bird Manor is able to accommodate between 250 to 500 birds due to the new expansion. That means that more birds will be able to be rescued and given a loving home. Millions of birds are sold each year in the exotic pet trade. Respecting the Earth—Reducing Global Warming

Now we are in the critical stage because of the increase in temperature of the Earth due to pollution in air, water and land. In order to save our mother Earth we have to reduce the global warming.

Global warming:

Global warming is the unusually rapid increase in Earth’s average surface temperature. It is due to the green house gases released by people. Due to global warming the average air temperature near Earth's surface was increased to 0.6 degree Celsius to 0.9 degree Celsius within past 100 years. The global warming not only affect the heat of the Earth's surface, it also affect the climate change, ocean circulation, rise the sea level, affect the agricultural yields and increase in the range of disease vector.

Green house effect (Causes for global warming):

The main reason for the global warming is the green house effect. Life on earth depends on energy from the sun. About 30 percent of the sunlight that beams toward Earth is deflected by the outer atmosphere and scattered back into space. The rest reaches the planet's surface and is reflected upward again as a type of slow-moving energy called infrared radiation.

The heat caused by infrared radiation is absorbed by "greenhouse gases" such as water vapor, carbon dioxide, ozone and methane, which slows its escape from the atmosphere.

Although greenhouse gases make up only about 1 percent of the Earth's atmosphere, they regulate our climate by trapping heat and holding it in a kind of warm-air blanket that surrounds the planet. This phenomenon is called Green house effect.

The atmosphere today contains more greenhouse gas molecules, so more of the infrared energy emitted by the surface ends up being absorbed by the atmosphere. Since some of the extra energy from a warmer atmosphere radiates back down to the surface, Earth’s surface temperature rises. By increasing the concentration of greenhouse gases, we are making Earth’s atmosphere a more efficient greenhouse.

Effects of global warming:

Rising sea level - Over the past 100 years the sea level was increased by about 10-25 cm. The reason for rise in the sea level was global warming. Due to global warming, the increase in temperature of Earth leads melting glaciers and ice sheets. When the temperature exceeds a particular level or warm temperatures last for a long enough period, and there is insufficient precipitation, glaciers and ice sheets will lose mass. The net loss of ice at anywhere between 88 to 224 kilometers per year. The sea level rising will cause the disasters such as hurricanes, tornados, tsunamis, thunderstorms, blizzards, etc.

Changing weather- For most places, global warming will result in more frequent hot days and fewer cold days, with the greatest warming occurring over land. Longer, more intense heat waves will become more common. Storms, floods and droughts will generally be more severe as precipitation patterns change. Hurricanes may increase in intensity due to warmer ocean surface temperatures.

Impacting Ecosystems – More importantly, global warming is already putting pressure on ecosystems, the plants and animals that co-exist in a particular climate zone, both on land and in the ocean. Warmer temperatures have already shifted the growing season in many parts of the globe. The growing season in parts of the Northern hemisphere became two weeks longer in the second half of the 20^th century. Spring is coming earlier in both the hemispheres.

Impacting people – The changes to weather and ecosystems will also affect people more directly. Hardest hit will be those living in low-lying coastal areas, and residents of poorer countries who do not have the resources to adapt to changes in temperature extremes and water resources. As tropical temperature zones expand, the reach of some infectious diseases, such as malaria, will change. More intense rains and hurricanes and rising sea levels will lead to more severe flooding and potential loss of property and human life.

The global temperatures will likely rise by 1.1 degree Celsius to 6.4 degree Celsius from 1990 to 2100, with range of temperatures due to the use of different scenarios of future greenhouse gas emissions and varying of climate sensitivity.

Whale Wars

Whale Wars—a conservation group referred to as Sea Shepherds in Antarctica battling to protect whales from Japanese who state they're killing whales for research. The particularly stunning and harmful limited series spotlights both the controversial Japanese whaling trade and volunteers in attempt to cripple Japanese whaling. The actual group uses innovative techniques, like their Delta Zodiac helicopter, to enforce what the law states. That's including close-quarters the ships get to disable and/or sink Japan whaling ships within the fight to impose international laws at the high seas where police force is minimal or even non-existent.

Every Friday night, I have the opportunity to watch Whale Wars on Animal Planet, the television documentary-series that mixes activism, adventure, and actuality together on television. The series documents the crew of Sea Shepherd struggling to operate together to expose and cease the Japanese whaling exercises. I wonder, how can people kill innocent whales and make money with them? The whales are part of this world and they deserve to live in peace, in the sea, where they belong. At least someone is caring about the whales, and opening people's eyes. That's why I love the show so much. People risk their lives just to show the world a single message. Whale Wars—the greatest show ever!

Celebrating Independence Day

While July 4^th is typically celebrated in the United States as “the Forth of July,” it actually marks a day too significant to be recognized merely by the mention of a month and a day. More appropriately, July 4^th is “Independence Day” – a federal holiday set forth to celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 and the resulting American independence.

The Declaration of Independence, perhaps this nation’s most treasured document, was signed in Independence Hall in Philadelphia, PA. Composed by a Committee of Five, which included Thomas Jefferson as its main contributor, it announced the independence of the Thirteen Colonies from the Kingdom of Britain, sending shock waves through the colonies and across the Atlantic.

Since that day, in 1776, July 4^th has been celebrated annually in one way or another. Actually, the celebrations in 1777 were not significantly different from those that we take part in presently. The few anomalies have occurred when the holiday fell on a Sunday (like in 1779), in which case it was celebrated on the following Monday (July 5) instead. 1791 marked the first use of the name “Independence Day”, and in 1938, Independence Day became a paid federal holiday.

As far as customs go, the Fourth of July is celebrated nation wide in a variety of ways. Some commonalities across the states are patriotic parades, external household decorations, public events featuring prominent politicians, and obviously, a boisterous display of the American Flag. All in all, the day brings forth a strong sense of patriotism – a sense that reminds people of both what it means to be an American, and the freedoms that we are privileged to in this nation. Consequently, we’re also reminded of those that have fought for these freedoms.

Now, these are all great ways to honor the holiday, but we can’t go without mentioning the mainstay celebration of every Fourth – fireworks. Big, loud, colorful fireworks. Whether you’re from Austin, Texas or Green Bay, Wisconsin, chances are that your night is going to be capped off with the viewing of a beautiful fireworks display. How do you find one? Well, it’s not very hard. They’re essentially everywhere. Most towns have one, but if yours doesn’t, then just head over to the neighboring town, or the town after that. Eventually, you’re sure to find a good fireworks show.

From the signing of the Declaration to the explosion of beautiful, multi-colored bombs in the sky, Independence Day is a holiday that really means something to Americans across the United States. So, on this July 4^th, remember that you’re privileged to enjoying that day, and every other day, because someone before you cared enough to fight for your independence. Enjoy the festivities!

A Weekend in Biloxi

Fort Massachusetts

This weekend, I spent my time in Biloxi, Mississippi. Biloxi is a great vacations destination. People flock to the beaches to catch some rays. Not to forget, the luxury, leisure, entertainment, and gambling that attract many people to the vast amount of casinos. Many celebrities perform at the casinos. Biloxi, Mississippi was severely impacted by Hurricane Katrina in 2005; therefore, many of the beach lots are still vacant. However, Biloxi is quickly rebuilding itself. Hurricane Katrina affected the coastline drastically, but it also cleared up the beaches. Hurricanes are devastating, yet there is a reason why they occur.

Inside Fort Massachusetts

While in Biloxi, I boarded an excursion ship and headed to West Ship Island. The ship was packed with people. After all, it was the Fourth of July weekend. While on West Ship Island, I enjoyed a day on the white sand beach. Not only is West Ship Island a great beach and a part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore—where sea turtles and dolphins call home, but West Ship Island is also where Fort Massachusetts resides. Fort Massachusetts and West Ship Island are part of America's military history. Fort Massachusetts was built on West Ship Island from 1859 to 1866 following the War of 1812 to protect the Mississippi Gulf Coast of the United States.

On my last day in Biloxi, I shopped until I dropped. There are some awesome stores in Biloxi to shop at. I really enjoyed my trip to Biloxi. If you can, I also encourage you to visit Biloxi. Visiting Biloxi will really support their economy, especially after Biloxi was affected by Hurricane Katrina in 2005

About 10 bidders participated in this bid, so each bidder placing the equivalent number of bids would have spent about $43.11 in bids.

Night after night, I faced the same problem. I just couldn't sleep unless I was really tired. Being really tired was rare for me because my mind is all over thinking about stuff. Then, when I was actually able to go to bed, it was at the time when most people were waking up for work. I had a horrible sleeping pattern. I was nocturnal. I felt like I was sleeping my life away. I'm not the type of person to even suppress a headache with an aspirin; therefore, taking a sleeping pill was out of the question. I've heard of people having crazy dream after having to rely on sleeping pills night after night. Sleeping pills are dangerous.

Many families are accustomed to taking that big summer trip to their favorite vacation hot spot. Whether it's the Outer Banks, Hawaii, the Bahamas, or upstate Maine, we've certainly developed a taste for the lavish and expensive. Why are these trips so expensive, though?

For many families, primarily the parents that plan the trips, you would think that they've discovered some hidden positive correlation between distance away from home and happiness. Let's be honest - when taking a vacation, most families try to get as far away as possible from home sweet home. It's become convention, really. It's just the way things work - an accepted tradition.

However, with the downtrodden economy, and the price of gas on the rise, it's high time that we challenge this convention and abandon tradition. These trips are simply not affordable on an every year basis. Sure, some families can afford to take these vacations once a year. The percentage of those who cannot, though, is much larger. Yet still, we'll sacrifice a good chunk of our salary just go "get away" for a week or two. Who can blame us, really? It's a good feeling to get away; especially when your every day consists of sitting in a cubicle and pounding away at a keyboard in zombie-like fashion.

What we must realize, though, is that there are cheaper alternatives to "the big trip." In fact, there are most likely several tourist attractions and vacation-worthy spots within your own region! I know this can sound ludicrous, but believe me, it's true! Actually, I know of several great museums and tourist destinations within my own locality that I would have never considered a viable vacation destination, until now. The best part is that while you're obviously going to save on gas, travel costs, and perhaps even hotel costs, local attractions tend to be much less pricey than national ones.

Now, you can argue that the attractions are "national" for a reason - that reason being that they're "the best in the nation" - and in most cases, yeah, you'd be right. However, I'd rather enjoy a local trip without worrying about the financial consequences. Find a cool rock climbing attraction. Take tours of local historical attractions. Take your kids to the local amusement park for a weekend. Visit a few museums. There are countless options! Be creative!

So, this year, before you plan your vacation, take into consideration the state of the economy and the risks that you're taking financially. Remember, there will always be time for the traditional vacations when the economy recovers. Of course, if you can afford it, go for it - but be conscious of the decisions that you're making and the apparent consequences. Also, remember to research and contact any destination before you make any final choices. By taking these steps, you can ensure that your vacation is both affordable and fun!

The Importance of Self-Respect

If you're expecting to garner respect from others, let it be known that you must first respect yourself. Self-respect is many things; however, let's start by taking a look at some of the things that it isn't.

Firstly, self-respect is by no means equivalent to arrogance. That is to say - you can respect yourself without holding yourself higher than everyone else in the world. Where respecting oneself is entirely a positive character attribute, arrogance carries an entirely negative connotation. It's hard for anyone to get excited about a person that lauds himself or herself with such extremity.

Additionally, self-respect is not a lack of respect for others. Believe it or not, you can go on living respecting multiple people (including yourself). If you disrespect others, then you have no real respect for yourself. Why? Well, in treating others poorly, you create nothing but bad blood, ill will, or whatever you want to call it. If you continually ruin relationships, you'll find the list of those that you can turn to in tough situations growing shorter and shorter. In other words, by disrespecting others, you're destroying your chance to live a life filled with healthy relationships and good friends. No self-respecting person would do such a thing.

So, then, what is self-respect? Honestly, it's a conglomerate of things - a quality that is comprised of a multitude of aspects. Let's dissect the term. "Self", obviously, refers back to you, or the subject in question. And then, we're left with respect. So, I guess the real question is: What is respect? Some would say that respect is the regard with which you hold someone or something to which you look up - R.E.S.P.E.C.T. Others would say that respect is earned, rather than inanely given. In my opinion, it's something that's hard to describe without actually using the word itself. Respect is something that is shared between people that look up to one another, people that give each other’s ideas a chance (regardless of initial reactions), and people that can put themselves in one another's positions in life (and empathize with decisions made). It's a whole lot of other things, too.

In turn, self-respect is being able to look back at the decisions that you've made throughout your life with confidence in them and regret without them. With each day, a self respecting person wakes in the morning and goes to bed at night knowing that they gave themselves a fair shot at that day, and that they stand by the decisions that they made. Of course, everyone makes mistakes, but the real measure of self-respect is consistency.

Ask yourself this: How can I make this world a better place not only for me, but for the people around me, as well? By respecting the world around you, you can learn a lot about yourself.

Flag Day: A Day to Pay Homage to the Symbol of Our Nation

Flag Day, which is celebrated annually in the United Sates on June 14, is a day dedicated to the adoption of the American flag. Although it is NOT a federal holiday, it IS officially established (thanks to our 28th President, Woodrow Wilson). In fact, the only state that actually celebrates Flag Day as a STATE holiday is Pennsylvania. Odd, huh?

Nevertheless, Americans across the country both acknowledge and celebrate the holiday. How do you celebrate Flag Day, though? Well, like any other holiday, I suppose - parades galore! Every June 14, there are hundreds of parades across the nation in celebration of our flag. Some of the larger, more notable ones take place in Troy, New York, Quincy, Massachusetts, and Fairfield, Washington, where thousands flock to view the proceedings.

While parades do us the service of public celebration, we can each celebrate Flag Day on a personal level, as well. You see, the entire week of June 14 is actually referred to as "National Flag Week." In this weeklong period, the President of the United States will often urge citizens to fly the American flag for the week in its entirety. While this is something that's essentially obligatory for government offices and buildings, it isn't a mandate for everyone else to go out and buy a flagpole. If you have one, great! If you don't, though, don't sweat it! Remember, there are other ways to honor the flag - most practicable year round, rather than just one day or week.

What else can you do, then? Well, for starters, it's always good to have an understanding of the holiday. While this article may be the initial step, don't let it be your last. Go out and learn about the United States flag! Who designed it? What's the symbolism involved? How many versions have there been? These are questions whose answers you'll find both interesting and gripping!

Flag Day, as it were, is a holiday that has been shaped by countless individuals throughout history. Whether it was George Morris, the man who is credited with originally mentioning the idea of Flag Day, or more recently, Theodore Roosevelt, who smacked a man whom he believed to be wiping his nose with an American flag (only to find that it wasn't a flag, at all), countless individuals have contributed to the conservation of both the holiday and the respect that the flag garners. As I see it, it's a great day for the United States - a day when we can commemorate and honor the national symbol that we see almost every day, yet too often take for granted.
